Oscar Piastri was fighting for a podium at the Hungarian Grand Prix when he made contact with Carlos Sainz, who was scrapping with Fernando Alonso over eighteenth place under blue flags. Sainz said he had no blue flag warning on his steering wheel and had not been told Piastri was there. The McLaren driver did not accept it: "That's no excuse, that's got to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen on a race track." Sainz took a five second penalty for the contact.
